February DeNami Blog Hop-Chickies

Welcome to the February DeNami Blog Hop. This month's theme features DeNami's famous chickies.
You should have arrived here from the blog of Lani Misner. If you get lost along the way, jump back to the DeNami blog and you can find the link to the spot you are looking for. Here are the details of the hop:

When: The blog hop starts onFebruary 12 at 6 AM, PST. However, you have until February 13, 2012, 11:59 pm PST, to leave comments on all the blogs (to be eligible for a prize).

Why: To be inspired by fun DeNami Design creations and also the chance to win mini shopping sprees on the DeNami Design website!

Prizes: DeNami is giving away TWO gift certificates to TWO people who comment along the hop!

For this hop I took a cute idea from Pinterest for a small valentine's day gift for my coworkers. Inside the package is a cherry lollipop. It's a quick and easy project.

To make these cute lollipop holders, cut the base red cardstock 2 1/4 inches by 6 1/2 inches and score at the 2 1/2 and 4 inch marks. Fold on the score marks. I tried various ways to adhere the paper around the pop but found that scoretape worked best. The chickie with a heart balloon is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink then colored with Copic markers (Y11, Y15, YR04 and R29). The chickie is topped with yellow Stickles and the balloon is covered with crystal laquer and some red gems are adhered to the circle. The edges are distressed with Walnut Stain distress ink. White ribbon is tied around the pop stick.

I'll be finishing up the 20 little valentine's day gifts on Sunday while hopping through the blogs. Please leave me a message and let me know what you think.

Michele Gross is the next artist in the hop. Head over to her blog and enjoy all of the ideas you'll see along the way.

ATC swap Words of Love

This is the project I submitted for the Fiskateers Artist Trading Card swap with the theme of 'Words of Love'. I really wanted to use this DeNami stamp since it is, after all, words of love. It's an old favorite.

My Mind's Eye Love Me Do papers, Stampin' Up! vellum, DeNami With Love stamp in chalk ink, an eyelet (under the ribbon), topped with a heart punch of paper, a ribbon bow, and Stampin' Up! frost white shimmer paint.

Three double spreads from one paper pack

When planning the January scrapbook classes, I ended up with lots of pages from one paper pack. I used some SEI papers called Alpine Frost with beautiful winter themes of pine branches, snow flakes, and wonderful coordinating papers. These pages are in addition to the three posted in January.

In the Sketched Out class you make two double page spreads. These pages will be on display in a sample book at Michael's to help show what you can make when you take one of these classes. I had a lot of fun making these pages.

February Sketch Out samples

Here are the pages for one double page spread I planned for a Michael's Textured Wow class. Here I used some left over We R Memories papers from last year's Valentine's themed line Be My Valentine plus a little bit of My Mind's Eye papers. I got to incorporate textures with some of my favorite embellishments with even more textured ideas coming on the second double spread.

This spread includes a vellum envelope filled with Martha Stewart hearts in three different colors, embossed die cut hearts, design adhesives with a beautiful embossing powder blend which was then heat embossed, ribbon, a foil embossed gold heart, and a cricut cut piece of x's and o's. That's going to be it on the love theme papers for now. Enough with the hearts!

Be Loved

Here is the second double spread I made with some left over papers from My Mind's Eye. This line is called Be Loved. I used these for an ATC swap with a Disney Theme. I chose the Queen of Hearts so it was easy to pick heart themed papers.

I'll post the queen herself with my other ATC sample soon. Again, love these papers and I have almost nothing done. I'm doing well sticking to my plan to use up most of the large paper scraps before sending them to the paper scrap yard. Don't ask me what I'm gonna do with all these love theme pages except journal how much I love my kids.

Love me do

I recently created two ATCs (artist trading cards) for swaps. I used some beautiful My Mind's Eye papers I purchased at the Stamp and Scrap show. The guy selling these papers were selling them for 5 for a dollar. Beautiful. This line is called Love Me Do.

I've been working on a resolution that when I finish a project I try to use the big scraps in some way before sending them to the abyss of paper scraps I have. So I used my new templates from Kiwi Lane to make a double page spread. You'll see that I fit in an extra ATC base as an embellishment. Love the colors of these papers.

February Calendar

Thirty days has September........ok I glued the wrong calendar on this page and while I retook the photo with the corrected calendar, the picture isn't as good, so there you go. I'd rather a have a good picture than an accurate calendar. BTW, the one hanging in my office only has 29 days.

This month's Michael's and Stampin' Up! events are listed at the bottom of the page. Stay warm and keep praying for no snow!
