New date for Mini Card Class

We've set a new date for the Mini Card Class.  It will be Thursday February 7th.  See samples below.  This is a great value - six cards for $10.  Register at the store.

Back by Popular Demand-Technique Tags

On March 16, I'll be teaching another session of a technique class which based on Tim Holtz' Creative Chemistry 101. You will create individual tags that take you step by step through multiple techniques using Ranger Inks, paints, powders, etc.  to learn how they work.

Each tag includes written instructions to replicate the technique.

This class explains the 'hows and why's' of these products.  You'll have time to play with the products and create a reference book for your use in future projects.

Register at Captured Moments at info@capturedmomentsstore.com or call the store at 518-356-7985 or with me directly.  The class is $35.  You'll receive a supply list.

We had SO much fun at the January class and several people asked for another session so here we are.  Be prepared to get down and dirty and fill your brain with fabulous techniques.

This cute card set is from a new class at Michael's-Mini Cards.  There are six cards (3x3 inch squares) with simple cuts, punches and embellishments.  The class was originally scheduled for this week but I've postponed it based on the registration.  I'll check the room availability and announce a new date.

The cost of the class for these six mini cards is $10.  Great deal.  Please contact me with any questions. Hope to see you there.

January Card Class at Captured Moments

Sorry to say I didn't get the samples posted until after the class but we had a great time.  Here are the samples for some ideas.  The February cards will be posted this week.

First is a card featuring DeNami stamps.  The Let it Snow background is embossed in silver on blue cardstock.  There are three layers of blue and silver paper.  The top layer has a silver embossed snowflake.  It's topped off with a bow of silver trimmed ribbon.

Second is another card in blue.  There's a theme going here.  Freezing weather= blue cards.  A Martha Stewart punch is used to stamp snowflakes along the bottom and then solid blue paper is layered behind the flakes.  Silver bling is added to some flakes.  Patterned paper is layered on the card and Serendipity's scarf and mittens are stamped in blue on a coordinating paper.  This is a great example of how coordinating paper packs work great together.  When the mittens and scarf were stamped on the solid blue paper it just didn't look like the right shade of blue.  Using the patterned paper made the blues match and look like they are made from material of polka dots.

Third is card in purple and brown, an interesting combination.  It uses two stamps from Paper Parachute.  I love their stamps and hadn't used them in a class at Captured Moments yet.  A cream ribbon is added to the side.

Finally, a new stamp I bought at the Hamburg stamp show by Sweet Stamps.  Tiffany suggested the blue gingham paper for the background which works perfectly.  There are plenty of days I wish I could click my heels and go home.  Gotta have some glitter glue for those ruby slippers.

Thanks to those who came including three new students.  Since Captured Moments has announced that they will close the physical store at the end of March, I'll looking for another venue to host this class.  Keep you posted.

Spellbinders test drive card samples

On January 29th, I'll be conducting the Spellbinders Test Drive at Michael's in Latham Farms from 6:30-8:30 PM.  Usually in this class students make one card, but it's want to do more so I've created four simple cards to let you see different dies and really use the products.

Students will learn how to cut with Spellbinders dies as well as emboss, and stencil.

We'll be using the Spellbinders Grand Calibur to cut the dies.  Here are the samples.  The clock die was a Christmas present from my friend Heather.  Thanks Heather.

The classroom board has two pages that show the different materials that can be cut with these dies:  patterned paper, vellum, embossed cardstock, heavy cardstock, cork, fabric, chipboard, corrugated cardboard, and chalkboard paper.

You can sign up at the store.  The class is only $10.
